Who doesn’t enjoy a really good homemade cup or bowl of soup? A homemade bowl of goodness just hits the spot sometimes. A close friend invited me to join her for lunch at her favorite local soup spot, Soup Swift about 2 months ago. Located at 2510 Miccosukee Road next to the Desloge Home Oxygen Company, I was always reluctant to try this little Cafe but I pushed past my reluctance and gave it a shot.
Offering an updated daily menu which posts online every day at 11:00 am, Soup Swift offers more than just soups. Their menu generally consists of five different types of soups, a salad menu and a sandwich and Quiché or Soufflé of the day. For those that leave room for dessert, they also have a large choice of homemade desserts for you to indulge in. As it always happens, I’ve already found a few of my own favorites in their menu. I recommend trying the Butternut Squash Bisque and the Strawberry and Spinach Salad when available. They offer a soup and a half sandwich or salad combo for $8.95. If you see more than one soup you would like to try, they also offer a Soup Sampler of any three of their soups available for that day, but this is for dine in only.
As stated on their website, all items offered in their Cafe are made by hand without artificial additives. They offer vegetarian and vegan options for customers with special dietary needs. They also state their mission of . . .”Our soups range from traditional favorites to the more exotic but all are made the old-fashioned way. Each pot is stocked with fresh ingredients and just the right amount of spices; then slowly simmered to create our flavorful soups. The same care is taken in our choice of meats and vegetables for our salads, sandwiches and savory sides.”
They offer both indoor Cafe seating and outdoor seating with picnic tables and umbrellas to shade you from the sun as you enjoy your lunch. When I initially went we enjoyed the outdoor seating and the friendly staff delivered our food to our table for us. If you are thinking of trying their yummy soups, I recommend coming early, they generally sell out of their more popular soups quickly and once it is gone it is gone for the day.
So the next time you are looking for a light gnash, drive over and checkout the Soup Swift, but don’t forget, come early and look at their daily menu options before you head over. Let’s continue to support these local businesses in Tallahassee to keep us growing on the good food revolution!
