Designer-Whey-Sustained-EnergyWith the impending fall race season approaching, I am constantly on the looking for a product to give the needed protein replacement but with the added benefit of keeping me full and ready to go.  I have struggled in the past with products that make me feel bloated and icky after I use them as a replacement refueling product and with all the added training and then I battled the feeling of being ravenous most of the day.  Already using other Designer Whey products, I was excited about the opportunity to try Designer Whey’s new line of Sustained Energy.

Here’s a little background about Designer Whey and more from them on the Sustained Energy Line –

In 1988, David Jenkins, a three-time Olympic silver medalist, who was simply passionate about the benefits of whey boldly decided to start a company that offered uniquely formulated protein products to fitness-minded consumers. It was the first of its kind.

NEXT Proteins grew into the leading developer of delicious, whey-based nutritional products, led by a group of passionate health and fitness enthusiasts. Our mission has been and always will be to help customers achieve their fitness goals and live healthier lives.

Our values are equally resolute. We only work with quality, scientifically proven ingredients, ensuring each Designer Whey product delivers the optimal blend of proteins, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. It’s this unique formula that helps to reduce appetite, build lean muscle, improve body composition, enhance the benefits of exercise, aid in recovery, and much more.

Since 1993, NEXT Proteins has invested more than $10 million dollars in innovative research, clinical testing, and product development.

New management yet same philosophy in product, nutrition and science.   In 2011, Athena Wellness Brands acquired Designer Whey and Aria brands from NEXT Proteins and established Designer Protein, LLC.   Our mission under Designer Protein is to further propel the full potential of our research-driven products and heritage to help meet the needs of our customers in achieving their fitness goals.

The future is bright and our dedication is unwavering.

Designer Whey® Sustained Energy™ is specifically formulated with our proprietary Endurance Blend™. Available in Chocolate Velvet and Vanilla Bean, Designer Whey Sustained Energy in is a great product for use after those long training runs or cross-training days at the gym.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy this product is with this recipe –

Chocolate Velvet Peanut Butter “Ice Cream”

  • 1 scoop Designer Whey Chocolate Velvet Sustained Energy powder
  • 8 oz Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Organic Crunchy Peanut Butter
  • 1 cup Ice

Directions – Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.  The consistency is thick, so I like to imagine that I am enjoying a nice bowl of peanut butter ice cream without all the guilt.  Not a chocolate fan?  You can also make this recipe with the Vanilla Bean flavor for a more Peanut Butter flavored shake.

  1. This would be a hard one. I love chocolate for my shakes but vanilla is good for baking! I’ve never tried Designer Whey, I think chocolate would top my list though!

  2. I absolutely love Designer Whey’s products. So many good flavors. I haven’t tried the sustained energy kind yet, but I’d love to get my hands on some!! 😉
