Natural Recovery

Last week as I was preparing for my last half marathon of 2014, I was also trying to recover my legs enough to not be in extreme pain on race day.  Thankfully my friend Desiree offered up a natural recovery option that she keeps in her arsenal for such days that she got from a friend of a friend.  I mean, aren’t those the best kinds of health recipe shares!  You know someone tried it and loved it enough to share.  Though her initial ingredient list included stevia, I opted not to use that and keep it simple.  Three ingredients and let me tell you, by race day, my legs were less stiff and I felt more hydrated than I have in a long while on race day.

With her permission, I give you Desiree’s Hydration & Natural Recovery Elixir

Ingredients

  • 1 organic Lemon, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 quart Water

Mix all ingredients into a quart jar, I used a simple mason jar, and refrigerate.  I drank this on my drive over to Panama City Beach that morning and refilled it with water throughout the day and continued to use the lemons for hydration.

I’m excited to use this in the coming weeks as I am working to shake the sugar addiction in 2015!  I warn you, if you don’t like a little bitter taste it will take a bit to get used to, BUT it totally works!
