I’m so excited to have participated for the second time in The Lean Green Bean’s Foodie Penpal group. This month I was matched up with registered dietitian and personal trainer, Alyson from St. Louis, Missouri who sent me some amazing goodies to help me with my October #Unprocessed Challenge, check out her blog page by visiting Simply Nutricising.
What’s in my Foodie package this month? Let’s take a look (I’m really excited) ~
My Foodie Penpal’s favorite spice company is Penzeys Spices, whose motto is Love to Cook – Cook to Love. She was kind enough to include a magnet from them with another witty saying that I love and feel the same ~ “Love People – Cook them tasty food.” She included two of her favorite spices in my package, Penzeys Cinnamon (which I use Cinnamon ALL THE TIME) and Penzeys Sandwich Sprinkle which can be used for more than just sandwiches. She notes that she loves to season roasted vegetables with this yummy blend.
She included a bag of “Power Trail Mix” that has Walnuts, Almonds, Pistachios, Sunflower Seeds, Dried Apples (with no added sugar), Raisins (with no added sugar) and Goji Berries to help me with fueling and keeping in mind that my October food challenge of unprocessed food may be tough to find quick snacks and a jar of dried bananas, YUM!
Along with my box of goodies was a recipe for “Fudgy Babies” which I cannot wait to make that are good for fuel during exercise. She writes that this is a great recipe to use during runs instead of gels and other processed items we often go to for quick fuel. This recipe calls for dates, which I have been anxious to find a great recipe to use them in. SCORE!
Lastly, an awesome little gem of Von Fass Oil & Vinegar Thailand Sampler which includes Waldburg Balsam Clamansi (Citrus Vinegar, which she notes this is great on fish and salads), Extra Virgin Olive Oil Basil (just made a homemade version of a Basil Olive Oil so YAY!) and finally, Ginger Sesame Oil.
Thank you so much Alyson for my wonderful package and thank you Lindsey for making an awesome match for October! I am already signed up for November and cannot wait to see what the first month of fall and Foodie Penpals has in store for me.
