I am such a FAN of the organic varieties of Chicken Apple Sausage available at my coop and supermarket; however, not always a fan of things on the label like “natural” ingredients or some other something that I can’t pronounce as the last thing on the ingredient list, which most of the time is some sort of preservative. A couple of years ago I ventured out and made my own version of a simple sausage at home for the same reason, to know what exactly was going into the mixture. Well, I’m back at it to create that sweet and savory breakfast meat that I love so much, but made right in my kitchen. It’s super simple and only 4 ingredients.
Here’s what you’ll need –
- 1 lb ground chicken (I chose a free-range organic variety)
- 1/2 peeled grated Gala Apple (or any apple variety you like most) I also squeezed the grated apple in a cheesecloth to remove the excess moisture
- 1/4 tsp rubbed sage
- 1/2 tsp Badia Complete Seasoning
