You Against YouThis week as I was gearing up to head to Atlanta for my next half marathon, life got in the way.  It’s not a bad thing and I’m not injured, which is most important.  I am just choosing to bow out of this race that just isn’t in the cards this year.

BUT instead of letting that get me down and wallow in self-destruction, I’m using that.  This week I’ve gotten back in the gym to weight train again along with my cardio workouts.  I know in order to stay healthy and strong I must also challenge myself to do things that I may not want to.  Nothing can stop us from being the athlete we dream of except ourselves.  We may have setbacks in training.  We may have to sit out of the “big race”.  We may have injuries that require a little more recovery time and attention, but ultimately it is about using those setbacks to build on and build ourselves up to accomplish all the training goals we dream of.

So this week, no wallowing in self-doubt or destruction . . . GET UP, brush yourself off and keep moving forward.  Stay positive even when that dark cloud seems to hover over your head and know that tomorrow you can have sunshine on your face (even if it is metaphorically!)
